There are plenty of AI tools now, and most of their marketing sounds the same. So instead of repeating feature lists, I tested Claude myself on two tasks I do regularly: writing an article and researching a topic. In this Claude AI review, I’ll share what I found from using it myself, along with a practical look at its features, benefits, and limitations.
What Claude Is
Claude is an AI assistant built by Anthropic. It is designed to help with real tasks, not just questions. You explain what you need in plain language, and it can help create and work with documents, code, data and other content.
Claude is available on the web, iOS, Android and desktop. It can also work with different file types and connected services, depending on the features and plan available to you.
My Test: Writing an Article
I gave Claude a topic and a few basic instructions about the style and structure I wanted, then asked it to write an article. It understood the topic and produced a complete piece, with an introduction, headings, main points and a conclusion.
I then read the whole output carefully. The structure was clear, the points connected logically, and the tone was mostly natural. I did not need to rewrite the draft. I only changed a few sentences and some wording to suit what I wanted.
If you are experimenting with different AI tools, using the right prompts can also make a noticeable difference in the quality of the output. You can find more ready-made ideas in our Prompt Gallery – AI Prompts guide.
My Test: Research
Next I used Claude for research. I asked it to look up information on a topic and build an answer from multiple sources. It pulled the information together into a structured response.
I then checked the important claims and sources by hand. Overall, the research was useful. Still, I came away feeling that important facts and citations need a human check before anything is published.
What I Took From Testing It
In my testing, Claude worked as more than a tool that spits out a final answer. It was practical as a first-draft writer, a research helper and an editing assistant.
At the same time, I would not publish its output as it is. Accuracy, sources, wording and your own personal tone still need human review.
Other Features Worth Knowing About
These come from Claude’s official information, not from my own tests.
- Artifacts let Claude create things such as documents, code, websites, diagrams and interactive tools that you can continue editing.
- Projects let you keep chats, files and instructions together for a particular piece of work.
- Memory can help Claude remember useful information across conversations, depending on availability and plan.
- Connectors can connect Claude with external services such as Google Drive and Slack, depending on availability and permissions.
- Voice mode lets you talk to Claude instead of typing, where the feature is available.
Limitations to Keep in Mind
Claude can speed up the work, but responsibility for the final result stays with you. Important facts, sources and AI-generated content should still be reviewed before publishing or using them for important decisions.
Features and usage limits can also differ by plan and change over time, so it is worth checking Anthropic’s current pricing and feature information before choosing a plan.
Who It Suits
Claude makes the most sense for people whose work involves a lot of reading and writing, such as bloggers, writers, students, researchers and office workers who deal with reports and documents.
If you only need quick one-line answers, you probably won’t use most of what it offers.
Final Thoughts
Claude is a capable assistant, and it is best treated as a strong starting point rather than a finished product.
In my own testing, it gave me a solid article draft and useful research that needed only light editing and a careful fact check. Used that way, it can save real time.
Pick one task you already do regularly, try it there first, and judge it by how much editing you have to do afterward.
